Where the wild tracks lead

Duin Koenyn is named for the small thing that gets there first. Before the bakkies, before the boats, before anyone has had coffee — there is already a line of tracks over the dune.

The drive up

01

It starts with spoor

Walk a dune at first light and the whole night is written on it. A duinkonyn has crossed from the grass to the slipface and back. Something bigger came through afterwards and did not stop. By ten o'clock the wind has taken all of it and the dune is blank again.

That is the idea the brand is built on. Tracks are proof that someone went. They do not last, which is exactly why you follow them while they are there.

02

Drawn from real ground

The artwork is not clip art. The dune plate is sea grass bent the way the south-easter actually bends it, a ridge that drops off the way a real one does, and a set of tracks running over the top and out of frame.

The Mozambique plate carries the coordinates of the point it was drawn from. If you have made that drive, you know the turnoff.

Your name on the back of it

A family name set large on the custom expedition artwork

Every convoy has a name for itself. It usually starts as a joke and then ends up on the two-way, on the WhatsApp group, and eventually on the back window.

The Custom Expedition Shirt takes that seriously: your surname or expedition name, drawn together with your actual vehicle — the rack you welded on, the tent, the spare on the bonnet — and printed properly, once you have signed off the proof.

04

Built to be worn out

This is kit for people who load a vehicle on a Thursday night. It should fade, it should get sand in it, and it should still be in the cab three seasons later.

The range grows slowly and on purpose. Nothing goes up on the site until the product, the price and the specification are signed off — which is why some of what you see here says "confirming" rather than making something up.

Three words on the badge

They are on the mark for a reason. This is what each one means here.

  • Explore

Go and look. The track exists because somebody went first.

  • Endure

Kit that lasts the trip, and the trips after it.

  • Evolve

The range grows as the ground does. Slowly, and only when it is right.
